Flattening Test - MP4 rendered in Vegas 720pThis is getting interesting... Trying to "fix" the problem with a FastStart utility generated more audio sync issues than I have ever seen with my standard Vegas profiles. Yumm.... buggggggssszzzzz! This version is probably the worst effect I've seen. I'm putting this effect down to this video having been encoded in Vegas with project markers included, then re-ordered by the MP4FastStart utility. I have yet to do further versions of this to see if I can repeat the effect, however. Used mp4 FastStart to convert a Sony Vegas file. Still getting that "The video you uploaded has edit lists. There is a possibility of Audio/Video sync issues to occur. Please see this article for more information." warning, but the Preview starts as the upload is in progress, which seemed at the time to be a good sign. Please note: this failure does not mean that MP4FastStart is a bad utility. It's only fixing half of the "problem" that others have commented, stems from YouTube's unwillingness to cope with the reality that different encoders handle things differently. This video uploads and converts with no obvious defects to Vimeo, for example. Link to the program site is www.datagoround.com Thank to MarkWWWW from the Sony Vegas site for this tip! See the thread at: www.sonycreativesoftware.com For amusement's sake, here's the nearly perfect conversion by Vimeo of the exact same file: www.vimeo.com Specs for this fouled up conversion are: General Complete name : N:\Vid\Tests\WinterBadness01b
2.35:1 Aspect Ratio TestBoth an upload test, and a lens test. Reason for uploading to YouTube was that I have uploaded nothing in awhile, and there have been some complaints about wider aspect ratio videos not converting to HD. This video is uploaded to test that. It did manage to register as HD on vimeo.com and I've now confirmed that YouTube converted it successfully as well, despite a few defects. I lied; this is my last shotSame as previous efforts to identify framedrop in HQ35. This one *should* be really 4:3. See www.youtube.com for what started all this. Detailed discussion was here help.youtube.com and also, to some degree in comments to kekkomatic's original tests that brought this to my attention. This mostly confirms that the problem is just about the same at 24fps (NTSC) as it is at 25fps (PAL). Frame skipping here is even more pronounced than in the earlier, letterboxed version that suffered some pixel stretch. Vimeo reference version: www.vimeo.com Besides confirming the significant frame drop rate, it also confirms how YouTube often truncates video before it is entirely ended. This video runs to 1:00;00 exactly. Not a frame less or more. The vimeo transcoding confirms that, as does the upload file stored at that link. Video as transcoded to YouTube ends at 00:59;13 Upload specs: Rendered in Vegas Pro 8.0c. Note the project definition was in most respects identical to the render in resolution, frame rate, scan type and so on. Cropping was performed on a 1080-60i original. Frame blending should be immaterial to what's being tested here, which should be apparent from the perception of the alternating B&W squares. REALITY CHECK episode 1.mp4My name is Larry Richards and I am the Co-creator and Supervising Producer of an original television show about minor league baseball. My business partner Joel Poiley (who is also the Co-creator as well as a writer/producer) and I have been developing this show for 4 years on our own. Recently however, we partnered with a well-connected and highly experienced and motivated production company out of LA Good things are happening with this show and Im hoping that in the very near future Ill be able to announce which MLB team well be partnering with. In the meantime, while Minor League: The Road to the Show continues to be a work in progress, being that here in Florida there is no shortage of baseball players and their stories, I decided that Id put together a few sample segments of guys who have been there and done that and share their story of their own roads to the show. These segments can be seen at the link posted at the end of this letter. Recently however, I did a segment that was a little different. Over the last few months weve developed a relationship with Roy Silver and Randy Holland, the head coaches of a baseball academy in Clearwater, Florida named The Winning Inning. The idea I had was to try-out a segment I came up with called Reality Check the idea being to ask the kids, ages 13 -16, those who are participating in The Winning Inning programs, why they wanted to be pro ballplayers, what they thought it was going to take, and then to have Roy tell us what the
